Skype 7 0 Available for Android Redesigned UI on Tablets and Better Multitasking

Skype 7.0 is rolling out to Android users via Google Play with a ton of changes for users of the service. First thing you should notice immediately is a redesigned UI for Android tablets, bringing more of the Material Design hotness that Skype unveiled last year on smartphones. This new UI includes a floating action button (FAB), featuring quick access to new video calls, messages, and contacts.

In addition to the design changes, Skype touts an enhanced universal search feature, making it easier and quicker to find contacts, chats, groups, and Skype bots right from the main screen of the app. Multitasking is also getting an upgrade on Skype, with the new design allowing for a multi-pane view when in landscape. To enter this, simply flip your device to landscape and you will see different sections of the Skype app neatly organized.

On top of the new look and features, Skype also declares that call quality is only getting better with the latest update, saying specifically that, “Downloading the latest version means you’ll also benefit from the latest call quality and performance improvements.”

Go grab that update.

Sprint Offering 12 Months of Amazon Prime for Better Choice XXL Customers

Sprint Offering 12 Months of Amazon Prime for Better Choice XXL Customers

For potential Sprint customers who purchase a Better Choice XXL plan, which is 40GB to share across multiple lines, Sprint is tossing in 12 months of Amazon Prime ($99 value). This promotion is available to new customers, as well as customers who upgrade to the Better Choice XXL plan.

Monthly, this plan costs $100/month. As displayed in Sprint’s graphic below, that price is in addition to $20 per device for line access on non-discounted handsets, or $10 per device for line access from tablets/MBB (mobile broadband) devices.

The Better Choice XXL plan also comes with no worries of overages. Any line that goes over its allotted amount will be kicked down to 2G speeds, although, the amount of data in technically unlimited. If that does not suit your streaming needs, which it probably won’t, Sprint offers an auto data buy-up option, charging customers $15 per GB of high-speed data.

Anyway, if you do decide to grab this Amazon Prime membership through Sprint, here’s how it works. Customers can sign up for Better Choice XXL via phone, web, or in-store, then following activation, you will receive a text with an activation link. Once your Prime membership activation is complete, you can begin to enjoy the benefits.

If going this route does not interest you, instead, Sprint can charge you $10.99 monthly for Amazon Prime as a plan add-on.

Evernote and Google Drive Get Better Integration With Rich Previews

Evernote and Google Drive Get Better Integration With Rich Previews

This morning, Google and Evernote co-announced that Google Drive has been integrated into Evernote with thumbnail previews and a much richer viewing experience when its documents are included in notes. That’s a fancy way of saying that you can access Drive files from within Evernote and then see them as more than just a link.

The video above details the new integration, which if interested in, can be utilized today on Android and through Chrome. The experience adds a Drive icon to the toolbar of Evernote which launches a view of your Drive files when tapped. Once attached to a note, you’ll get previews in some instances (like with photos) and then see buttons in others.

To give Google Drive integration in Evernote a test, head over to this page.
